FAQ for Postural Pilates

What do You Differently?

We offer exclusively privates and semi privates to help individuals strengthen and train optimal alignment.

  • We emphasize strengthening in NEUTRAL SPINE positions to carry over into FUNCTION.
  • We incorporate ELONGATION into our workouts to improve your ability to resist gravity in daily life.
  • We have the knowledge to adapt exercises to protect joints/parts of the body with ROM limits or special positioning needs.

Is This Just For People With Scoliosis?

Good Question! We see EVERYONE!

  • We believe that everyone needs good posture and that Reformer Pilates is a great way to improve it!
  • We want to help not just the scoliosis community in St. Louis, but anyone who needs our posture savvy skill set :)

How Do You Make Pilates Safe for Scoliosis?

This is one of the most common questions we receive at our clinic. We keep individuals with scoliosis safe on the Reformer by:

  • Eliminating positions that are NOT appropriate
  • LIMITING motions with excessive rounding and twisting to prevent injury.
  • We assess your alignment in each position to prevent ASYMMETRY in your movements.
  • We may utilize towels and/or pads to help you find your body's NEUTRAL SPINE.

Will I be able to participate fully?

We are wizards at adapting exercises, set-up, and intensity to match your spine's needs and help you get the most out of your session! However, if we feel your scoliosis needs more TLC to get the best experience, we may recommend a round of Schroth Therapy and/or Therapeutic Pilates first to remove ROM barriers or address pain.

How do I know if I should be in private or semi-private sessions?

All new clients are required to do at least ONE private session so we can determine your needs.

If semi privates better fit your flexibility and/or budget we will work to pair you with individuals with similar availability and skill level after you complete the desired number of privates.
